More than 200 guests turned out Nov. 14 when Monte Vista Grove Homes on Nov. 14 held its annual Founders’ Gala at Descanso Gardens. Fritz Coleman, NBC4 weather forecaster, served as master of ceremonies. The senior care community in Pasadena provides independent living to retired Presbyterian pastors and missionaries.
Dick and Tracy Hirrel accepted a Spirit Award on behalf of the Ayrshire Foundation and the Gamble family’s 91 years of support of the senior care community. Bob Hiller presented an award to Dawn Malcolm, M.D., and the Rev. Cindy Crowell of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Pasadena also accepted an award on behalf of her church.
The evening included auction items, a catered dinner and live music, provided by Jack Lantz, music director at La Cañada Presbyterian Church, and his ensemble. The sold-out event raised more than $100,000 to help support the campaign to build a new Memory Care Residence and Wellness Center at Monte Vista Grove Homes.
