Kaitlin Powers crowned as 2014 Miss La Cañada Flintridge
Kaitlin Powers, a junior at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, was crowned the 2014 Miss La Cañada Flintridge Thursday night during the 102nd annual Installation and Awards gala for the La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce and Community Assn. The dinner event was held in the ballroom at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club.

The new Miss LCF is the daughter of La Cañada residents Michael and Jodi Powers. She is a member of her school’s Mu Alpha Theta Math Club, the National Honor Society and the California Scholastic Federation. She also participates in varsity softball and junior varsity volleyball.
Her royal court includes Jenna Gray, Camille Keh, Caroline Kenney and Sabine Puglia, all of who were also presented custom-designed tiaras.
Other students also received honors during the event, including Dan Cohen, who was named Intern of the Year for the chamber’s 2013 Summer Intern Scholarship Program. He received $2,000 in scholarship money. Taking home $1200 scholarships were the other participating interns Ben Blanco, Justin Cohen, Jonathan Connelly, Marne Fairhurst and Brian Kim.
The evening also saw the installation of longtime community volunteer and Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA official Kim Beattie as chairman of the chamber’s board of directors. She succeeds outgoing chairman Wes Seastrom.
