Pasadena man arrested in Angeles Crest Highway murder

Pasadena police have identified 22-year-old Julio Robles-Castaneda as the man found dead on the side of Angeles Crest Highway last week. A suspect in his murder has since been taken into custody.

Pasadena police on Tuesday released the identity of a man who was found dead on the side of Angeles Crest Highway last week with bullet wounds and also announced they have his suspected killer in custody.

Daniel Cervantes, 30, was arrested in a Pasadena home on Nov. 7 by members of the United States Marshals – Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force. According to the Pasadena Police Department his arrest came a day after the body of 22-year-old Julio Robles-Castaneda was found on the side of the highway by passing motorists.

Robles-Castaneda had been shot multiple times, and the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office said his death was a result of those wounds.

A motive behind the murder is unknown, and police said in a statement that the incident wasn’t random.

It’s also unknown what connection the two men had to one another.

Robles-Castaneda’s death remains under investigation
