Bear spotted at Burbank golf course

A black bear was spotted Friday afternoon at the DeBell Golf Course in Burbank, police said.

The bear was seen near the 11th hole for a few minutes before it wandered back into the hills, according to Burbank Police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.

Police did not know if it was the same red-tagged bear that has visited Glendale and La Cañada Flintridge neighborhoods in recent weeks.

In a safety advisory released Friday, police pointed to tips from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife on what to do in the event of a run-in with a bear.

They advised the public not to run away, but instead face the bear and make noise while trying to appear as large as possible. If attacked, fight back, and if you see an attack, call the police.
