A Palmdale man is in custody after police say he punched a man who is in his 70s and stole his car from a Burbank parking structure Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say 25-year-old Kevin Green went up to the man around 2:30 p.m. as he sat in his vehicle, which was parked at a structure on 770 N. First Street. Green demanded the man get out of his car and hand over his keys; when he did so, Green allegedly punched him.

Sgt. Derek Green, a spokesman for the Burbank Police Department who is unrelated to the suspect, said Kevin Green then drove away from the area.

“The victim suffered only a minor injury and remained at the scene to talk with officers,” he said.

Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were able to locate the stolen vehicle several hours later after it was spotted in the Palmdale/Lancaster area.

Sgt. Green said the driver of the vehicle matched the description the victim gave of the carjacker.

Kevin Green was placed into custody and is being held on $100,000 bail. He faces a possible elder abuse charge in addition to carjacking.
