Glendale ex-convict, 24, charged in burglary of Burbank gun store

A 24-year-old Glendale man faces multiple charges in connection with the burglary of a Burbank gun store late last month.

Tigran Zmrukhtyan is accused of burglarizing AEGIS Trading Enterprises on the morning of Nov. 22. Seven handguns were taken from the business, according to police.

Security camera footage recovered by police showed a black Mercedes C Class fleeing from the business. Authorities said the same vehicle was identified later that day at an attempted commercial burglary in Hollywood.

Using footage from that crime, Burbank police said it eventually was determined that Zmrukhtyan was a suspect in both incidents.

Police then set up surveillance of Zmrukhtyan’s Glendale residence, where the same vehicle seen in the footage was parked outside. Zmrukhtyan attempted to flee on foot from officers after they contacted him outside his home, according to police.

He subsequently was captured.

Officers then searched Zmrukhtyan’s home and found the stolen guns hidden in a crawl space; bolt cutters, a pry bar and methamphetamine were found in the car. Police said they also discovered the car had been reported stolen.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office has charged Zmrukhtyan with burglary, attempted burglary, grand theft auto and being an ex-convict in possession of a firearm.

Zmrukhtyan previously was convicted of several felonies including grand theft and burglary.

He is currently being held without bail.
