Passenger numbers at Hollywood Burbank Airport continue to stay positive after the number of people traveling through the airfield increased by 1.7% in July compared to a year ago, airport officials said.

Hollywood Burbank saw 340,413 passengers going through its two terminals that month, which was 5,675 more than in 2015 and 2,328 more than what officials had projected, said Mark Hardyment, the airport’s director of government and environmental affairs, during a Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority meeting on Monday.

July’s numbers follow an uptick of about 3.1% in June. The three consecutive months of increased passenger usage mark good news for the airfield, after its March and April numbers were less than hoped for.

The top-performing carrier for the airport in July was Delta Air Lines, which reported 8,153 passengers that month, or about an 18.9% boost over the previous year. United Airlines had a decent showing, tallying 22,285 passengers, or about a 7.3% increase over 2015’s numbers. Southwest Airlines, the airport’s biggest airline, saw 252,098 passengers in July, a 10,285 jump over last year.

While there was only one airline that reported a decline in passengers in June, there were three airlines that failed to beat their previous year’s numbers.

American Airlines had 11,630 passengers in July, or about a 28.2% decrease compared to the previous year. JetBlue Airways’ numbers slumped to 7,793 passengers for that month, or about a 6.4% drop. Alaska Airlines had a small drop, reporting 38,454 passengers in July, or about a 1.6% dip.

Though passenger numbers were up in July, the airport’s parking revenue dropped slightly. Mary Tromp, the authority’s parking manager, said that the airfield generated $1,549,119, a 1% decrease compared to 2015.

Lots A and E and the airport’s valet service had fewer transactions compared to the previous year. However, activity at the parking structure continues to increase, thanks to the increasing number of ride-sharing drivers picking up passengers, Tromp said.
