Work using Measure S funds resumes at Burbank Unified schools

The following are updates about projects underway using Measure S funds in the Burbank Unified School District:

  • The upper and lower playground equipment installation at Jefferson Elementary School is expected to be complete before Thanksgiving.

  • Fencing between the Adult School and Maple Street at Luther Middle School was completed last month.
  • The modernization at Mann Children’s Center is continuing. Trenching, compaction and back fill for site utilities and drainage are ongoing. Concrete sidewalks around buildings are being poured. Rough electrical as well as heating and air-conditioning work is ongoing. Door hardware installation at Building D is underway. New window installation at the administration building is ongoing. Lighting installation at the lunch shelter west of Building D has started.
  • Plans for modular classroom buildings at Harte, Jefferson and Stevenson elementary schools are under review by the Division of State Architect and are expected to be approved early next year.

  • The second phase of energy-saving assessments are being conducted at Burbank and John Burroughs high schools, Monterey Continuation High School as well as Roosevelt, Providencia, Disney, McKinley elementary schools, Community Day School, Burbank Adult School, the Independent Learning Academy, the district service center and district offices.

  • The network infrastructure and updated 21st-century technology are substantially completed at Burbank High School.

  • The network infrastructure at Luther Middle School is substantially complete. Wireless access points are installed and being tested and verified. Planning for 21st-century technology at the school is set to begin this fall.

  • The network infrastructure is substantially complete and planning for 21st-century technology has started at Burroughs High School. Wireless access points have been installed and are being tested and verified.

  • The network infrastructure at Muir Middle School is substantially complete. Wireless access points have been installed and are being tested and verified. Demolition of old projectors and mounts has started and demolition of existing cable is complete.

  • The installation of 21st-century technology is complete at Providencia, Jefferson, Edison, Roosevelt and Emerson elementary schools as well as Monterey Continuation High School, Magnolia Park School and Community Day School.
