A car caught fire in an underground parking garage Monday evening and damaged two other vehicles in the process, according to the Burbank Police Department.

The Burbank police and fire departments first received word around 10:20 p.m. of a Toyota Highlander on fire in the 1800 block of Grismer Avenue. The fire had occurred in the parking garage of an apartment complex, according to police Sgt. Derek Green.

He said the “suspicious” fire had caused extensive damage to the car as well as moderate damage to two other vehicles parked nearby. However, the fire did not damage the apartment building.

Green said witnesses reported seeing two people near the vehicles earlier in the evening and the department has identified two people of interest.

The incident remains under investigation.
