A 28-year-old Hesperia man was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of murder, two days after he allegedly used a knife to kill his girlfriend inside a Burbank home and a day after police accused a different man of the crime.

The suspect, identified as Timothy Aguilar Andrade, is accused of fatally stabbing the 35-year-old victim, identified as Brandi Carrasco, in the bedroom of a Burbank home located on the 1900 block of Richard Street.

Police initially suspected the 49-year-old resident of the home, Brian Thomas Lowe, of involvement in the woman’s death because he was uncooperative during questioning and offered conflicting statements, according to Burbank Police Officer Joshua Kendrick.

However, after further investigation, investigators believe that Andrade acted alone.

Lowe has since been released, Kendrick said.

Investigators had identified Andrade as a person-of-interest prior to his arrest, and had been actively searching for him, Kendrick said. He was arrested at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, two days after the victim was found dead.

Just before 10 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to the home, where the victim had sustained “multiple lacerations to her upper torso,” Kendrick said.

Andrade’s statements reportedly led detectives to the suspected murder weapon, a knife, which was recovered in Burbank, though police declined to reveal exactly where.

Further details on the cause or time of death were not available, and an autopsy is pending.

What motivated the attack is not known. Police said Carrasco had recently been staying at the Richard Street home.

According to a relative of a neighbor, Lowe and his elderly mother are longtime residents of the single-family home where the body was found.

The woman, who asked not to be identified citing safety concerns, said that different people were always seen coming and going from the house.

“My kids are always here playing in front of the house, so it’s very scary,” she said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Burbank police at (818) 238-3210.
