Letter: Get your bike checked out for free

Share

Is your bicycle just sitting around the garage or patio? Are your tires looking old and flat? Wondering if the brakes even still work?

Bring your bike to the Burbank Farmers Market this Saturday to have it professionally safety-checked and adjusted for free by trained and experienced bicycle mechanics, sponsored by Walk Bike Burbank. Get your bike ready for Sunday’s CicLAvia in downtown LA, or have it quickly checked-over for proper safe operation in order to explore Burbank’s many bike paths and amenities.

To encourage the community’s safe and healthy participation in bicycling and local active transit options, Walk Bike Burbank, the local non-profit chapter of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition, sets up shop four times a year at a Burbank Farmers Market Community Table performing free bike safety checks for everyone.

From 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. this Saturday Oct. 17, Walk Bike Burbank will be providing free bicycle safety checks, dispensing maintenance and safe bike operation information, and performing various minor mechanical tune-ups such as brake adjustments, seat adjustments, filling tires, fixing flats and more, while the Market is open — all for free!

Even if your tires haven’t had air in them for years, bring your bike to Burbank Farmers Market Saturday and they can help you get back on the road.

Getting your bike to the safety event is easy and convenient also. Simply take Metro bus 92, 94, 96, 155, or 183. You can put your bike on the front bike rack and go directly to Burbank Farmers Market using the Olive/Glenoaks Metro stop.
