Less than 24 hours after realizing the sting of a five-game loss against Oak Park in the CIF Southern Section Division II championship, the Burroughs High boys’ volleyball team was given new life and the inside track for a possible rematch with the Eagles.

On Sunday, the CIF State office released pairings for the CIF Southern California Boys’ Volleyball Regional Championships.

The Indians received the Division II No. 2 seed and will host Chatsworth on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Burroughs (28-6), which has strung together seven consecutive Pacific League championships, lost Saturday in its second CIF title bid against Oak Park in five games.

Chatsworth (33-12-1) won the Division II City Section title in a sweep of Eagle Rock on Saturday.

Should the Indians prevail on Tuesday, they would host a semifinal matchup on Thursday night against No. 3 Sanger (30-9), the Central Section Division I runner-up, or No. 6 Cathedral (30-7), the Southern Section Division III runner-up.

On the other side of the bracket, Oak Park (34-4-1) earned the top seed and will host No. 8 Mt. Carmel (21-15; San Diego Section Division I champion), while No. 5 Valley Christian (27-3-1), the Southern Section Division III champion, will face host No. 4 La Jolla (25-8), a San Diego Section Open Division semifinalist.

The SoCal championship will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday at Edison High in Huntington Beach as part of a three-division SoCal championship tripleheader.

Tuesday’s match will mark Burroughs’ return to the SoCal championships for the first time since 2011 when the Indians had advanced to their first-ever Southern Section title match and come up short against Valley Christian. Burroughs won its SoCal opener on the road at Thousand Oaks in the first round before losing on the road to Otay Ranch in the semifinals.
