Sports roundup: Riggs tallies hat trick for Burroughs soccer in win over Pasadena

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Burroughs 7, Pasadena 0: Maddie Riggs netted a hat trick Friday afternoon to lift the Indians to a Pacific League win at Memorial Field.

Camila Franco, Jazmine Valdez and Mimi Tiger had a goal and an assist each and Emma Bartram added a goal for Burroughs (9-4, 6-4 in league). Bartram and Emily Orsatt combined for the shutout in goal.

The Indians have won six of their last seven league contests.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Crescenta Valley 3, Burbank 1: The Bulldogs were outshot, 25-10, in the Pacific League loss Thursday at home.

Calleen Navasartian had the goal for Burbank (5-6-1, 4-5-1 in league).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Burroughs 59, Pasadena 28: The beat marches on for the Indians, who continued their undefeated run through the Pacific League with a road victory Friday afternoon.

It was the 37th consecutive league win for the three-time defending league champions

Jordan Meltzer was one of three Indians (16-7, 9-0 in league) to score in double figures with a game-high 20 points.

Kamryn Cardenaz added 16 points for Burroughs, which received 10 points from Abbey Ibarra.

“I liked our energy tonight, we really crashed the boards,” Burroughs Coach Vicky Oganyan said. “We played well and didn’t let down, which is nice.”

Crescenta Valley 53, Burbank 37: The Bulldogs slipped to 16-7, 6-3 in the Pacific League with the loss Friday on the road.

Christina Mkrtchyan had 12 points for Burbank.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

La Salle 78, Bellarmine-Jefferson 63: The Guards slipped to 2-13, 1-5 in the Camino Real League with the loss at home Friday.
