GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Bellarmine-Jefferson 41, Mary Star of the Sea 39: A narrow win on the road Tuesday evening kept the Guards in first place in the Santa Fe League.

Cosette Balmy had 13 points and Paul Guevara and Dalila Rincan had 11 points each.

Bell-Jeff (10-10, 7-0 in league) is in first place ahead of St. Genevieve (5-1 in league) with three league games remaining.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Providence 1, Yeshiva 0: The Pioneers (5-9, 2-1 in the Liberty League) held on for the victory Tuesday at Occidental College.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Buckley 45, Providence 41: The Pioneers came close to winning their first Liberty League game, but fell short Tuesday on the road.

Providence (9-14, 0-4 in league) received 16 points and seven rebounds from Brian Cabagnot and David Grigoryan and Armen Mkrtchyan added seven points each.

Providence, which trailed, 29-20, at the half, got to within 43-41 with 6.2 seconds left. Buckley was able to sink two late free throws.
