Sports Roundup: Providence softball ends league with win; Bell-Jeff ends losing streak
SOFTBALL
Providence 13, Oakwood 10: The Pioneers outlasted the Gorillas in the Liberty League game Wednesday afternoon at North Hollywood Park.
Providence (8-6, 5-2 in league) finishes second in league.
Christy Hoffman was two for five with a home run and Alyssa Camacho was two for three for the Pioneers.
Bellarmine-Jefferson 10, St. Bernard 1: In their final game of the season, the Guards were able to enjoy their first victory since 2014.
Previously, Bell-Jeff’s last victory was a CIF Southern Section Division VI quarterfinal playoff triumph in 2014.
Thereafter, the Guards lost in the semifinals of the tournament and fell on hard times with 2015 going without a team. Last season, Bell-Jeff went 0-13.
On Tuesday, the Guards ended their 22-game losing streak with a Santa Fe League win at Pelanconi Park.
Bell-Jeff ended the season with a 1-8 record
