Sports Roundup: Indians finish third, Bulldogs fourth in league golf match

GIRLS’ GOLF

Burroughs, Burbank in Pacific League match No. 3: The Indians placed third and the Bulldogs were fourth Tuesday afternoon at De Bell Golf Club.

Arcadia (213) won the match and was followed by La Cañada (224), Burroughs (233), Burbank (249) and Crescenta Valley (268).

On the par-36 course, the Indians scorers were Annie Adachi (42), Abbie Riggs (45), Gabija Petrulis (48), Alissa Jarmillo (49) and Malia Suarez (49).

The Burbank scorers were Olga Maria Davis (43), Amy Tran (45), Kara Lee (51), Madison Lee (54) and Regina Ramos (56).

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Burbank d. Hoover: 25-8, 25-14, 25-18: The Bulldogs remained undefeated in the Pacific League with a win Tuesday on the road.

Burbank is 10-1, 4-0 in league and in first place in the Pacific League.

Burbank d. Golden Valley, 25-23, 25-18, 25-19: The Bulldogs rolled to a nonleague victory Monday on the road.

Arcadia d. Burroughs, 25-15, 22-25, 25-18, 25-14: The Indians suffered their first Pacific League loss Tuesday afternoon at home.

Burroughs is 7-2, 3-1 in league.

Providence d. St. Genevieve, 25-8, 25-20, 23-25, 25-22: Talia Patterson had 20 kills and seven digs to lead the Pioneers to a nonleague victory Tuesday evening at home.

Isabella Mahan had 18 digs, Ayah LeBrane had 15 kills and five blocks, Giselle Camonayan had eight kills and 12 digs and Justine Nuñez had 41 assists and nine digs for Providence (11-4-1).

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Burbank 25, Milken Community 9: Brandon Wilson and Varuzhan Bilbulya had eight goals each in the nonleague match Tuesday afternoon at home.

Artush Gasparyan added five goals and eight steals for Burbank (4-1).

Burroughs 27, Crespi 6: The Indians improved to 7-6 with the nonleague win Tuesday afternoon at home.

BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Burbank, Bellarmine-Jefferson in Woodbridge Invitational: Burbank nabbed a podium finish in taking third place with 142 points on Saturday in the Division I-A varsity race at Norco’s Silver Lakes Course.

Freshman Andres Leon was Burbank’s top runner, placing 16th in 15 minutes, 35.3 seconds. The Bulldogs added a pair of top-20 placers in sophomore Victor Goli (20th, 15:40.1) and Dayne Ellis (22nd, 15:43.2). Junior Jahir Olvera finished in 35th (15:55.9).

Bell-Jeff’s Nick Montijo won the junior white division with a personal best time of 15:44 on Saturday. In the sophomore division, Sebastian Ceja-Solis finished 23rd with personal-best time of 17:26.

Burroughs in Mt. Carmel (San Diego) Invitational: Jagdeep Chahal was 15th in 15 minutes, 52 seconds and Jeron Straker was 36th in 16:44 in the senior race Saturday at Balboa Park.

GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Burroughs in Mt. Carmel (San Diego) Invitational: Emily Virtue placed fourth in the senior race in 15 minutes, 43 seconds Saturday at Balboa Park.

In the same race, Catrina Villalpando was 20th (17:55) and Ana Villalpando was 25th (18:17).

In the freshman race, Burroughs finished second (137) and Jordan Guzman won the race (17:45).

Burbank at Woodbridge Invitational: The Bulldogs took fourth place in the Division 1-A varsity race with 162 points on Saturday at Norco’s Silver Lakes Course.

Sophomore Sol Fernandez paced the Bulldogs by taking 10th place in 18:01.1, while senior Noemi Apreza earned 17th (18:097) and junior Shalom Mejia finished 27th (18:37.3).
