Sports Roundup: Providence cross-country’s Guardado wins another Liberty League meet
GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY
Providence in Liberty League Meet No. 2: Carissa Guardado won her second league race of the season Wednesday at Griffith Park.
Guardado navigated the 2.8-mile course in 19 minutes, 43 seconds. She was followed by Sandra Vargas (seventh, 21:48) as the Pioneers’ other top-10 finisher.
Pacifica Christian (33) placed first, while Providence (93) was fourth.
BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY
Providence in Liberty League Meet No. 2: Ryan Donnelly placed fourth Wednesday at Griffith Park.
Donnelly navigated the 2.8-mile course in 16 minutes, 52 seconds. Brian Chan (24th, 18:33) was the only other Pioneer in the top 25.
Pilibos (64) placed first, while Providence (122) was seventh.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
Burroughs 13, Arcadia 10: The Indians opened Pacific League play Thursday afternoon with a win on the road against the Apaches.
Burroughs improved to 8-7 overall.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Providence 12, St. Monica 6: The Pioneers prevailed on Tuesday at the Burbank Tennis Center. Pioneers Rosalie Bedganian and Olivia Robinson swept in doubles.
Crescenta Valley 16, Burroughs 2: The Indians slipped to 2-5, 2-4 in the Pacific League with the loss Thursday afternoon on the road. Both of Burroughs’ wins came in doubles.
