Sports Roundup: Burbank girls, boys earn top 10 finishes at Clovis Invitational

Burbank at Clovis Invitational: The Bulldogs posted a top-10 effort at Saturday morning’s Division I race at Fresno’s Woodward Park.

Burbank finished ninth with 295 points in a competition won by Pacific League rival Crescenta Valley (147).

Burbank sophomore Sol Fernandez led her squad as she placed 18th in 19 minutes, 22.8 seconds. Senior Noemi Apreza turned in her squad’s other top-50 effort by finishing 32nd (19:54.2).

BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Burbank at Clovis Invitational: The Burbank boys finished 10th in the Division II race Saturday morning at Fresno’s Woodward Park, site of the CIF State championships.

The Bulldogs held their own as they tallied 302 points in a race won by Rocklin (106 points).

Sophomore Victor Goli was his team’s top runner, taking 14th in 16:19.5, just two spots ahead of teammate Andres Leon (16th, 16:22.3).

Sophomore Dayne Ellis was Burbank’s other top-50 runner, earning 44th in 16:38.4.
