Sports Roundup: Burbank volleyball rolls to league sweep

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Burbank d. Glendale, 25-10, 25-12, 21-11: The Bulldogs completed a season sweep of the Nitros on Tuesday on the road.

Burbank (15-5-1, 8-3 in league) is in third place in league with two matches left to play.

Burbank in Sylmar Tournament: The Bulldogs went 3-2-1 Saturday at Sylmar High.

Burbank defeated Banning, 25-20, 25-17, Chatsworth, 25-11, 25-12, and Sylmar, 25-14, lost to Atleta, 25-23, 25-18, and Pomona Catholic, 25-23, and tied Golden Valley, 25-23, 22-25.

St. Bernard d. Bellarmine-Jefferson, 25-17, 25-15, 25-18: The Guards fell to 1-11, 0-9 in the Santa Fe League with the loss Tuesday evening on the road.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Burroughs 15, Hoover 3: The Indians swept all nine singles sets in the Pacific League match Tuesday afternoon at home.

In singles for Burroughs (6-5 in league), Jackie Samsell won, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2, Chloe Bookmyer prevailed, 6-4, 6-0, 6-0, and Sandy LeMay triumphed, 6-2, 6-1, 6-1.

Canoga Park Armenian General Benevolent Union 10, Providence 8: The Pioneers lost the Liberty League match Tuesday on the road.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Burbank in Oxnard Tournament: The Bulldogs went 1-3 Saturday at Oxnard High.

Burbank (8-8) defeated Oxnard, 13-8, and lost to Brentwood, 13-10, Granada Hills, 17-7, and Carpinteria, 11-4.
