Sports Roundup: Providence boys, girls net impressive tournament wins
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Providence 77, South Pasadena 72: The Pioneers (2-0) received a team-high 29 points from Tevon Khudatyan on Thursday to earn a pool-play win in the 29th annual Paul Sutton Tip-Off Classic.
The Pioneers held a 57-53 lead after three quarters after trailing, 41-37, at halftime.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Providence 55, Louisville 24: Freshman Melissa Zozulenko led the Pioneers to their second victory in as many nights in the Paul Sutton Tip-Off Classic on Thursday afternoon.
Zozulenko tallied 16 points for Providence (2-0), Giselle Camonayan added 15 points on five-of-seven three-point shooting and Francesca Maravilla added seven points and nine rebounds.
