Sports Roundup: Burbank boys’ basketball continues hot streak

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Burbank 54, Eastside 50: The Bulldogs continued their torrid pace at the Hart Tournament in pool play action Tuesday afternoon.

Leo Tahmasian led Burbank (9-1) to its seventh straight victory with 13 points, while Tyrese Willis added 12 points and Xavier Davis chipped in nine points.

Burbank will face Hart on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Temple City 74, Providence 68: The Pioneers fell in the San Gabriel Valley Classic opener at Monrovia on Tuesday evening.

Tevan Khudatyan was impressive in defeat, scoring 26 points for Providence (6-5), while Jonas Holt added 22 points and AJ Bautista contributed 10 points.

With the loss, the Pioneers dropped to 6-5 and will face Cathedral at 7 p.m. back at Monrovia in pool play action on Wednesday.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Burroughs 87, Santa Paula 50: The Indians kicked off the West Coast Holiday Classic at home on Tuesday evening with a victory.

Freshman Faith Boulanger paced Burroughs (7-3) with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Marin Grote contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds. Kayla Wrobel added 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists and Dyani Del Castillo chipped in nine points.

Santa Barbara 75, Burbank 57: The Bulldogs dropped the opener of the West Coast Holiday Classic on Tuesday afternoon.

Osanna Tirityan led Burbank (3-7) with 23 points and 16 rebounds, while Brianna Castro added 17 points and six rebounds and Jayla Flowers contributed six points and 10 rebounds.

Burbank will face Sherman Oaks Notre Dame on Wednesday at Burbank High at noon.
