Sports Roundup: Khudatyan, Providence boys’ basketball post tourney win

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Providence 76, Central City 73: The Pioneers (8-6) ended the San Gabriel Valley Classic with a victory Saturday at Monrovia High.

Tevan Khudatyan led the Pioneers with 29 points, Joe Whelan added 21 points and AJ Bautista chipped in eight points.

Burroughs 50, Rio Mesa 48: Burroughs (9-3) captured the consolation championship of the Ventura Kiwanis Tournament on Saturday.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Carter 54, Burbank 53: The Bulldogs suffered a loss Saturday in a consolation contest of the West Coast Classic at Burroughs High. Burbank dropped to 5-9.

Foothill Technology 70, Burroughs 53: Burroughs (9-6) dropped a consolation game of the West Coast Classic on Saturday at Burroughs.

The Indians got 12 points and four rebounds from Faith Boulanger, 10 points and five rebounds from Marin Grote and nine points from Dyani Del Castillo.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Burroughs 3, Valencia Valencia 1: The Indians (8-4-1) posted a win Saturday in the third-place match of the Crescenta Valley Tournament.

Burroughs received one goal apiece from Topil Petko, Manny Gonzalez and Esteban Alcantar.

Carter Wells and Carlos Rosales received all-tournament honors for the Indians.
