Sports Roundup: Burbank softball opens season with shutout win via Porras

SOFTBALL

Burbank in Hart Tournament: The Bulldogs opened their season in resounding fashion Saturday morning with an 8-0 win over host Hart on the strength of an Alyssa Porras’ six-hit shutout.

Amaya Broyls delivered a two-run home run.

In their second game of the day against Highland, the Bulldogs lost, 3-1.

BASEBALL

Thousand Oaks 8, Burroughs 2: The Indians opened their season Saturday with a defeat.

Collin Johnson hit a solo home run, Julian Jaramillo had two hits, including a double, and a run batted in and Brian Garcia had a hit and a walk for the Indians. Nathan Metz and Andres Salazar threw scoreless innings of relief.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 11, Burbank 1: The Bulldogs lost their season opener at home on Saturday in the Easton Tournament.

Burbank took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Sherman Oaks Notre Dame ran off 11 straight runs to win it.
