Sports Roundup: Siy, Providence baseball sink Aveson

BASEBALL

Providence 9, Aveson Global Charter 2: Kobe Siy struck out 13 in a complete game to spark Providence (2-2) in a nonleague contest at Foy Park. Siy recorded two hits.

Jacob McGorrian had two hits and drove in two runs for the Pioneers and Jake Garrick also had two RBI. Teammate Connor McCarthy had a single and drove in a run.

BOYS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Burbank 86, Crescenta Valley 50: Sergio Aguilar and Oladele Hospidales won two individual events each to pace the Bulldogs to a Pacific League win Thursday afternoon at home.

While Aguilar was first in the 300-meter hurdles (41.3 seconds) and the high jump (5 feet, 10 inches), Hospidales won the 100 (10.9) and the 200 (22.8).

Erik Harutyunyan won in the triple jump (40-2), Chris Aslo won in the discus discus (117-9) and Bryan David won in the 400 (51.6). Individual winners were Alisa Petrosyan in the pole vault (8-0) and Safar in the shot put (28-8).

Burroughs 109, Hoover 23: Ryan Thomas was a double individual winner for the Indians in the long jump (18 feet, 7 inches) and the triple jump (38-7) in the home Pacific League meet at home Thursday afternoon.

Also picking up wins were AZ Arnaud in the 100 meters (11.0 seconds), Aashwin Roy in the 400 (54.0), Andrew Hoxsie in the 800 (2:17), Jeron Straket in the 1,600 (4:42), Julius Largaespada in the 3,200 (10:50), Connor Van Dyke in the 110 hurdles (19.0), Cole Workman in the 300 hurdles (45.3), Sean Durmick in the pole vault (11-0), David Lennstrom in the high jump (5-10) and Grant Housley in the discus (123-2).

GIRLS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Crescenta Valley 84, Burbank 51: Jayla Flowers was a triple individual winner for the Bulldogs in the Pacific League home meet Thursday afternoon.

Flowers, a freshman, was first in the 100 meters (12.6 seconds), the long jump (17 feet, 1 1/2 inches) and the triple jump (34-8). Also earning wins were Tamryn Betts in the high jump (4-10), Alisa Petrosyan in the pole vault (8-0) and Tiffany Safar in the shot put (28-8).

Burroughs 125, Hoover 1: The Indians rolled to a Pacific League victory Thursday afternoon at home.

Double individual winners for Burroughs were weer Jessica Boyd in the 100 meters (13.3 seconds) and the 200 (28.7), Priscilla Murillo in the shot put (29 feet, 1 inch) and the discus (81-3 1/2), Jordan Guzman in the 800 (2:38) and the 1,600 (5:33.6), Elizabeth Surratt in the 300 hurdles (50.7) and long jump (14-6) and Kayla Wrobel in the high jump (4-8) and triple jump (27-7). Individual winners were Maisy Green in the 400 (1:05.9), Taylor Lombardo in the 3,200 (12:52), Camryn Thompson in the 100 hurdles (18.5) and Elizabeth Switzer in the pole vault (10-6).

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Burroughs d. Hoover, 25-11, 25-15, 25-17: Cole Kaitz had 15 kills and three blocks for the Indians on Thursday in a Pacific League match on the road.

Carter Cotrell had 17 assists and Steven Grandinetti added 16 assists for Burroughs (6-5, 2-0 in league).
