Sports Roundup: Providence boys’ soccer nets league win

BOYS’ SOCCER

Providence 2, Armenian General Benevolent Union 0: Paul Swaine and Elias Ferguson scored goals Friday to lead the Pioneers past Canoga Park AGBU at Occidental College.

Providence improved to 2-4, 1-0 in the Independence League.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Bellarmine-Jefferson 70, St. Bernard 57: The Guards continued to roll in the Santa Fe League with the win Thursday evening on the road.

Bell-Jeff (15-3, 4-0), the top-ranked team in CIF Southern Section Division V-A, jumped out to a 20-7 lead after one quarter.

The Guards have a league showdown with the only other league unbeaten team, La Salle (15-6, 4-0), at 7 p.m. Tuesday at home.
