Drunk man arrested after allegedly trying to break into car -- twice

A 31-year-old Canoga Park man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of burglary after allegedly trying to break into a car while drunk -- twice.

The victim watched the man, identified by police as Emanuel Avila, allegedly attempt to break into her car just after 7 p.m. while she was at work, prompting her to call the police, said Burbank Police Lt. Eddie Ruiz.

By the time officers arrived on scene at 600 South Victory Boulevard, Avila was gone, according to police.

A short time later, the woman called police again to report the same man had returned to her car.

Again, Avila had reportedly left the scene before officers arrived, but he was spotted and arrested nearby.

He was being held in lieu of $20,000 bail before his court appearance this week.
