A 39-year-old Burbank man was arrested Saturday afternoon after allegedly throwing a bottle of tequila at a mailman, police said.

Just before 1 p.m., Robert Hecimovic, who had been drinking, started a conversation with the 53-year-old postal worker as he delivered mail in the 800 block of East Cypress Avenue, said Burbank Police Lt. Eddie Ruiz.

They spoke briefly until the postal worker, upon realizing Hecimovic was under the influence, walked away to continue his delivery route, Ruiz said.

Hecimovic then allegedly threw the bottle of tequila, which shattered four feet from the mailman, Ruiz said. No injuries were reported.

Hecimovic was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and for allegedly being drunk in public.
