Woman arrested after allegedly shoplifting at Toys R Us with 2-year-old son

A 26-year-old carrying her 2-year-old son was arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing a bag of Disney toys from Toys R Us on Victory Boulevard in Burbank.

Kimberly Heredia of North Hollywood walked into the toy store with her son at around 2:30 p.m. carrying a large empty bag, police say, which she allegedly used to fill with about $70 worth of Disney items.

Heredia allegedly refused to stop when store employees contacted her outside, instead walking toward a Nissan Maxima with a man in the driver’s seat. When she reached the car, she allegedly pushed the bag of toys under the car, according to police.

As Heredia walked away, the man got out, put the stolen items in the car and drove off, leaving Heredia and the child behind.

When Heredia was arrested, the child was released to a family member.

Because she had no prior arrests, she was released and is due back in court in a month, said Burbank police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.
