Burbank-based Nickelodeon orders more ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’

Nickelodeon announced Tuesday that its revamp of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” has been picked up for a second season. This calls for a pizza, yes?

The writing was written on the sewer wall. Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello proved that shelled crusaders never go out of style with its mid-morning premiere on the network over the weekend. It ranked as the week’s top telecast with kids 2-11 (2.1 million -- more than half were boys) and was the No. 1 kids program on basic cable, with 3.9 million viewers for the week.

The storied franchise was a hit in the ‘80s and ‘90s -- and Nick was hoping the spirited reptiles hadn’t grown rusty.
