San Fernando Valley roundup: CicLAvia, Obama close streets, Gas prices rise, and a stabbing in NoHo

Good morning, readers. Today is Sunday, October 7. President Obama is in town, but this time he won’t be visiting the Valley.

Street closures will mostly affect West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and surrounding communities, according to City News Service. If you plan on being on the westside today, read about all the street closures.

Two men were stabbed in the North Hollywood area last night, and one died, reports Patch.

A fire in Sun Valley gutted 30 cars, reports the Daily News. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A Mobil station in Studio City hit $5 a gallon yesterday, as gas prices raised across the state, reports ABC.

And if that number gives you a headache, you can attend CicLAvia in downtown L.A., an event that closes off streets to cars for bikers, walkers, joggers, and just about any other transportation device that doesn’t have an engine. You can get to the event by taking the Orange Line to the Red Line, and get off near the MacArthur Park hub.
