Bail increased to $1 million for Burbank man suspected of causing infant’s injuries

The bail amount for a 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse to his 5-week-old infant daughter has been increased to $1 million, jail records show.

The man, identified by police as Matthew Wojcik of Burbank, was arrested Tuesday night after Los Angeles Children’s Hospital staff notified police they were treating a 5-week-old girl with multiple broken bones. It appeared the injuries were a result of child abuse, police said.

Wojcik was arrested after police investigators interviewed hospital workers and the infant’s mother.

The infant was last reported as being in critical, but stable condition at the hospital.

Wojcik’s bail was initially set at $100,000. He is scheduled to appear in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday.
