Burglars target more than a dozen cars in Burbank

Share

More than a dozen vehicles were burglarized early Saturday morning in downtown Burbank, police said, with victims collectively losing nearly $10,000 in cash and property.

No suspects have been identified, but police believe the same individual or team of people may be behind the burglaries, as each vehicle had a smashed window.

Designer purses and sunglasses, laptops, cameras and iPods were stolen from cars parked in the 100 and 200 blocks of South First Street, the 100 block of East Orange Grove Avenue and the 500 block of South Victory Boulevard.

Police urge motorists to secure their belongings in their trunks and remove valuables from their cars.

When items containing personal information are stolen, victims may also face identity theft, said Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.

“Your phones, iPads, computers -- all of that has information on it that people can access,” he said. “We have patrol officers down there…but obviously there are times we can’t be everywhere at once.”
