Car hits water pipe in Burbank, sending water high into the air

Share

A two-vehicle crash in Burbank on Friday severed water pipes for a business near Olive Avenue and Lamer Street, sending water high into the air and prompting a traffic detour that lasted for nearly an hour.

The crash occurred shortly before 12:40 p.m., when a white van and Toyota Camry collided, sending the sedan into the water pipes.

One driver was transported to L.A. County-USC Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

Emergency crews initially thought a hydrant had been severed, but it turned out to be water lines for a nearby business.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
