Burbank utility crew back ‘cold, tired and full of stories’ from Superstorm Sandy relief effort

The 10 electrical linemen from Burbank Water and Power who have been assisting with power restoration and relief efforts in New York City have returned “cold, tired and full of stories,” the city announced Tuesday.

The men were part of a larger 27-member crew comprised of workers from Burbank, Anaheim, Pasadena and Riverside who took part in ongoing efforts to restore power in areas ravaged by Superstorm Sandy.

The Burbank crew was able to return in time to spend Thanksgiving at home, according to the city.
Andrew Harmon, a line mechanic supervisor for Burbank Water and Power, said in a statement that he was “so moved to see row after row of utility crews from across the United States there to help.”

Superstorm Sandy, and then a strong nor’easter that lashed flood damaged areas with snow and blistery conditions, ravaged the Eastern Seaboard, leaving hundreds of thousands residents without power, many for days and even weeks.

“You could see it in their eyes, people were so happy to see us and we were proud to be there to help,” Harmon added.
