A Burbank auto restoration shop is offering a $1,000 reward for the recovery of television talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw’s 1957 Chevy Bel Air, which was stolen from their business, officials said.

McGraw was driving his classic car on Aug. 26, but it broke down and was towed to RODZ Fabrication Co., at 2800 N. San Fernando Blvd., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

On Sunday, Burbank police officials said thieves cut a padlock on the shop’s gate about 11:55 p.m., entered the shop and stole the car. Thieves also damaged a roll-up door at the shop, police said.

Burbank police estimated the value of the car at $100,000.

The shop, which specializes in restoring vintage cars, posted the reward in exchange for safe recovery of the car and details leading to the arrest and conviction of the thieves.

Investigators with the Task Force for Regional Auto Theft Prevention, comprising multiple law enforcement agencies, are working with Burbank police detectives to recover the car.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call police at (818) 238-3210 or (818) 238-3000.
