Charity representatives meet with LFCU employees

Share

The Lockheed Federal Credit Union celebrated the success of their foundation in September when employees met with representatives of local charities that the foundation supports.

The charities benefited by the foundation, LFCU Community Stars, include the Burbank Temporary Aid Center, Penny Lane Centers, the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center Foundation and For the Troops.

Until now, the credit union’s employees have volunteered over 1,200 hours through the credit union’s “Volunteer Time Off” program. With this program, paid time is offered to employees who volunteer. Employees have also donated over $240,000 to local nonprofit organizations. This has been accomplished in part because 55% of the credit union’s employees elect to donate money to the foundation through a payroll deduction.

The foundation regularly distributes the contributions they’ve made to local charities every four months. The credit union presented checks of $4,750 to each of its five benefiting organizations this month.

Since the foundation’s establishment, the Burbank Temporary Aid Center has received more than $65,000 and 150 hours of volunteer service from credit union employees.
