All-Area Boys’ Basketball First Team
Isaac Etter, Junior, Guard, Bellarmine-Jefferson
All-Camino Real League and All-CIF first-team selection made 91 three-pointers. In addition, he averaged 17.8 points, 1.9 steals and 1.6 assists per game to aid the Guards’ ascent to the CIF semifinals.
Michael Ibarra, Senior, Guard, St. Francis
Helped Golden Knights qualify for CIF Southern Section Division IV-AA playoffs, where they advanced to the CIF quarterfinals once again. Averaged 12.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and two assists per contest.
Koko Kurdoghlian, Junior, Guard, La Cañada
Rio Hondo League co-Most Valuable Player and All-CIF first-team selection was one of the area’s top shooters. Averaged 14 points and nine rebounds per game to lead the Spartans to share of league title and playoff appearance.
Alex Miralis, Senior, Forward, Glendale
Pacific League co-Player of the Year averaged 15.7 points and 9.5 rebounds. Helped lead Nitros to second place in league and a postseason victory and was a 46% shooter from the floor.
Arin Ovanessian, Junior, Guard, Crescenta Valley
All-Pacific League first-team selection averaged 14.1 points per game (16.9 in league). Shot 42% from the three-point line, a school record 87% from the free-throw line and tallied five rebounds per game.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Steve Snodgress, Glendale
Pacific League Coach of the Year led Nitros to record of 16-12 and 11-3 in league for second place, a run that included a historic win over league champion Pasadena and an improbable comeback against Burroughs. Glendale reached second-round of CIF Southern Section Division I-A playoffs in Snodgress’ final season.
