Burbank boy accused of attacking his mother

A 17-year-old boy was arrested Monday after allegedly punching and strangling his mother during an argument, police said.

Police responded to the 1200 block of West Burbank Boulevard after receiving reports of a family disturbance, said Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.

A 50-year-old woman reported that her son punched and strangled her after she called his girlfriend’s mother to come pick her up, Ryburn said.

The mother had swelling below her eye and a cut on her finger, Ryburn said, adding that she opted to seek her own medical attention.

The teen, who was not identified because he is a minor, was arrested on suspicion of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, Ryburn said.
