Burroughs basketball stays undefeated in Pacific League

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Burroughs 62, Crescenta Valley 16: The Indians remained undefeated and in first place in the Pacific League win a win Friday at home.

Aysia Shellmire had 26 points, Sidney Ortega added 10 and Davina Del Castillo had 11 rebounds for Burroughs (15-2, 4-0 in league).

Burbank 58, Crescenta Valley 30: The Bulldogs coasted to a Pacific League win with a blowout victory on Wednesday.

Burroughs 61 Pasadena 36: Aysia Shellmire had 29 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks Wednesday to help pace the Indians to an easy Pacific League win.

Davina Del Castillo had 15 rebounds and Jakarra Waddell had seven rebounds for Burroughs.

Orangewood Academy 40, Providence 39: The Pioneers lost the nonleague game Wednesday at home.

Kristie Kawamoto had nine points, six rebounds and five steals for Providence. Janel Adraneda added nine points.

The Pioneers led, 22-15, at halftime and had a 27-26 advantage after three quarters.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Crescenta Valley 66, Burroughs 33: The Indians dropped to 11-5, 1-3 with the Pacific League loss Friday on the road.

Muir 74, Burbank 70: The Bulldogs fought back, but couldn’t win the Pacific League game Friday on the road.

Burbank (9-8, 1-3) went on an 18-4 run in the fourth quarter, paced by 18 in the frame from Greg Salas (21 points).

Crescenta Valley 60, Burbank 54: Despite holding a 30-18 halftime lead and a 49-40 advantage after three quarters, the Bulldogs lost Wednesday’s Pacific League game as they were held to just five points in the fourth quarter.

Pasadena 65, Burroughs 35: The Indians couldn’t knock off the defending Pacific League champions, falling Wednesday on the road.

The Indians battled back and cut the Bulldogs’ lead to two early in the third quarter. However, Pasadena ended the game on a 34-6 run, as Burroughs could muster just 12 points in the second half.

Lawrence White had 11 points for Burroughs, despite turning his ankle in the second quarter.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Providence 9, Glendale Adventist Academy 0: Karni Boghokian scored four goals and Rose Avakian added three to pace the Pioneers to a Liberty League win Thursday.

Liz Velez and Ally Casella had one goal each.

Crescenta Valley 4, Burbank 0: The Bulldogs lost Wednesday in a Pacific League match against the four-time reigning league champions.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Burbank 16, Hoover 2: Led by five goals apiece from Abby Glaessner and Julianna Vitigliano, the Bulldogs opened Pacific League play on Tuesday with a win.

Jazmine Ellman had six saves in goal, while Ryan Bettencourt added two goals.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Burbank 2, Muir 2: A penalty kick in the final three minutes gave the Mustangs a home Pacific League win against the Bulldogs on Friday.

Christopher Mazzi and Georgi Dzneladze scored goals for Burbank. Mazzi also had an assist.

Pasadena 2, Burroughs 1: The Indians dropped their first Pacific League match of the season, losing Wednesday.

Crescenta Valley 4, Burbank 1: The Bulldogs lost Wednesday’s Pacific League match.
