Food trucks park for a culinary cause

Three vendors set up at Burbank High School where food trucks, which normally are at the school on Thursdays, set up with their services for the high school's back-to-school night on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Ten percent of the money the food trucks earn goes to the high school's culinary arts program.

Food trucks are popular at Burbank High, including the school’s Back-to-School event held on Wednesday.

They’re also at Burbank High every Thursday evening, when all sales benefit the school’s culinary arts program.

The event is held from 4 to 8 p.m. on the basketball courts at 902 N. Third St.

Entry and parking are free, and new food trucks are included in the lineup each week.

The event was initiated a few years ago by Burbank High’s culinary arts instructor Judy Shalhoub, who has been teaching there for about 15 years.

For more information, email her at judyshalhoub@burbank.usd.org or follow her on Twitter at @chefshalhoub to find out which trucks will visit the school each week.
