Police investigating six car burglaries that may be related
Six vehicle burglaries, one of which included the theft of a handgun, were reported in Burbank Wednesday evening, and investigators say the incidents may be connected.
Between 6:30 and 10 p.m., three cars were burglarized in three parking lots within a couple blocks of one another in downtown Burbank, said Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn. In two of them, the burglars smashed car windows to gain entry.
Numerous electronics, including an iPad, laptop and cameras, were stolen, along with the handgun, which was in a backpack on the back seat of one of the cars, Ryburn said.
In the 2800 block of West Olive Avenue around the same time, two window-smashing car burglaries were reported, with a briefcase and backpack reported stolen. The backpack was recovered in the area later and returned to the victim, Ryburn said.
In addition, a purse was stolen from the backseat of a car in another window-smashing burglary in the 2800 block of Haven Way.
