One goal enough to lift Burroughs girls’ soccer past Arcadia

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Burroughs 1, Arcadia 0: The Indians rolled to their first win against the Apaches in four years with the Pacific League victory Wednesday at Memorial Field.

The lone goal of the match was scored in the 16th minute. Freshman Noelle Garcia got an assist from Brianna Castillo and lofted a shot from 30 yards out that came to rest in the Arcadia goal.

The Indians (8-8, 5-1 in league) are in second place in league.

Burbank 4, Hoover 0: The Bulldogs improved to 4-1-1 in the Pacific League with a win Wednesday at home.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Burroughs 2, Arcadia 1: The Indians (4-2 in league) sit in third place in the Pacific League following a victory Wednesday on the road.

Junior Milosh Petko scored both of Burroughs’ goals.

Burbank 2, Hoover 2: The Bulldogs played to a stalemate Wednesday in a Pacific League match at Toll Middle School.

Christian Garcia had two goals for Burbank (1-3-2 in league) and Dennis Palacio had two assists.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Burbank 56, Hoover 27: The Bulldogs’ win, coupled with a Burroughs loss Wednesday, puts Burbank in a three-way tie for first place in the Pacific League with the Indians and Arcadia.

It was the fifth straight league win for Burbank (9-10, 5-1).

Ashley Linda had 13 points for the Bulldogs.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Burroughs 55, Arcadia 51: The Indians came on late in the fourth quarter to pull out a Pacific League win Wednesday at home.

Lawrence While, still hobbled by a sore ankle, scored 19 points for Burroughs (12-6, 2-4).
