Roundup: Burroughs basketball drops league game to Glendale

BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Glendale 53, Burroughs 45: The Indians were dealt a Pacific League loss Friday at the hands of the host Nitros.

Amaad Wainwright had 15 points for Burroughs, which fell to 15-6, 7-2 in league.

Burbank 71, Arcadia 37: The Bulldogs’ defense stepped up Friday night in the Pacific League victory at Burbank.

Burbank (4-5, 10-11) limited the Apaches to 19% shooting and just seven field goals in the game.

Adam Pasco paced the Bulldogs with 11 points.

Providence 60, Garey 40: The Pioneers improved to 11-9 with a nonleague victory Friday night at home.

Bellarmine-Jefferson 72, Verbum Dei 58: Clark Thomas led the way for the Guards, scoring 19 points to help lead them to a Santa Fe League victory on the road Wednesday.

Abid Oses added 15 points and Isaac Etter contributed 12 for Bell-Jeff (14-7, 3-1 in league).

Providence 74, Rio Hondo Prep 28: A big game from Josias Parker helped propel the Pioneers to a nonleague win Wednesday at home.

In limited minutes, Parker scored 24 points and was a perfect 10 for 10 shooting from the field — including hitting all four of his shots from three-point range — for Providence

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Burroughs 56, Glendale 53 (overtime): Paula Galicia made a three-pointer from almost half-court at the buzzer in overtime to lift the Indians to a Pacific League victory Friday at Glendale.

The win keeps Burroughs (17-6, 9-0) in first place in league, one game ahead of Crescenta Valley (17-6, 8-1).

Galicia had 16 points and 12 rebounds. Teammate Brooke Radcliff added 13 points and 12 rebounds and Jakarra Waddell had seven points and 13 rebounds.

St. Anthony 77, Bellarmine-Jefferson 18: The Guards just couldn’t keep up in suffering the Santa Cruz League loss Thursday night.

Bell-Jeff fell to 2-9, 0-4.

GIRLS’ SOCCER
Burroughs 0, Glendale 0: The Indians (7-7-2, 6-1-2) had to settle for the tie Friday in a Pacific League game.

Buckley 3, Providence 0: The Pioneers fell to 2-4, 2-2 in the Liberty League with the loss Thursday.

BOYS’ SOCCER
Arcadia 5, Burbank 0: The Bulldogs dropped to 1-8 in the Pacific League with the loss Friday at home.
