Bulldogs post sold results in meet

TRACK AND FIELD

Burbank vs. Crescenta Valley: Despite losing in boys, 85-51, and in girls, 79-57, the Bulldogs had some impressive results in the Pacific League meet Thursday at Burbank.

On the boys’ side, Burbank received a double win by Isaiah Amos-Nshimba in the 800 meters (2 minutes 3.71 seconds) and the 1,600 (4:29.6). Teammate Bruce Lee won the shot put (44 feet 1/4) and Brandon Weiss took the discus (116-1).

On the girls’ side, Haley Pirruccello was a double winner in the 100 hurdles (17.02) and the 100 (12.61), as was Hannah Park in the shot put (25-10) and the pole vault (8-0). Teammate Jordan Card was first in the discus (88-9) and Danielle Reid took the high jump (4-8).

BASEBALL

Burroughs 18, Muir 1: The Indians had little trouble winning the Pacific League game Tuesday on the road.

Pitchers Nate Bogard and Daniel Barraza combined to throw a two-hitter.

Zander Anding was two for two with two runs batted in and Hector Gonzalez was two for two for Burroughs.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Burroughs d. Arcadia: 25-23, 20-25, 25-13, 17-25, 15-7: The Indians began Pacific League play Wednesday with a hard-fought win on the road.

Burroughs — ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division III — received 36 assists and eight kills from Tyler Yanez. Teammate Robby Rutecki had 13 kills and three blocks, Daniel Jacobs had 10 kills and eight digs and Lucas Yanez had 12 kills and 18 digs for the Indians (17-3).

SOFTBALL

L.A. Lutheran 6, Providence 5: The Pioneers lost the game Wednesday on the road on a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Pioneers’ pitcher Bronwyn Stewart went the distance, giving up five hits and three earned runs while striking out seven.

Caitie Guttry had a solo home run and Amber Bartmus delivered a three-run dinger to put Providence up, 4-1. Teammate Cheyenne Pease had a triple.

Providence 12, St. Genevieve 5: Bronwyn Stewart pitched a complete game, giving up six hits, no earned runs and striking out four to help lead the Pioneers to a nonleague win Tuesday.

Stewart also had a solid day at the plate, collecting three hits and driving in two runs. Teammate Natalie Ficocelli had four runs batted in and Sierra Nelson had two hits, as did Gian-Mari Llaguno and Estelle Glorioso. Amber Bartmus, Jackie Brewer and Natalie Ohrt also singled.

The Pioneers were also aggressive on the basepaths, as Glorioso, Ficocelli and Bronwyn Stewart all swiped bases.

Burbank 10, Glendale 3: Katie Hooper went three four with a home run, two runs scored and five runs batted in to lead the Bulldogs to a Pacific League victory Monday at McCambridge Park.

Teammate Laina Do had a home run and four RBI.

In the circle, pitcher Crystal Diaz picked up the win, striking out five.
