BOYS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Burroughs in Pacific League tri-meet: The Indians kept their league title aspirations alive by defeating both Crescenta Valley and Muir on Wednesday afternoon.

The Indians improved to 4-0 after knocking off the Mustangs, 128-7, and the Falcons, 85-51.

Perhaps the highlight of the meet came when Indians pole vaulter Matt Schwartz set a school record with a vault of 15 feet, which was secured on his second attempt at the height.

“I’m always looking for a personal record and I was actually hoping to get 15-6,” said Schwartz, who bested his previous personal best mark of 14-8.

The win was the second of day for Schwartz, who also captured the high jump (5-10). Burroughs’ Corwin Scherer also was a double winner, taking the 110-meter (16.25) and 300 hurdles (40.39).

GIRLS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Burroughs in Pacific League tri-meet: The Indians split in a home league meet, defeating Muir, 92-40, while falling to Crescenta Valley, 93-43, on Wednesday afternoon.

The loss was the first for the Indians (3-1), who only notched four victories versus the Falcons.

Two of the victories came from Sarah Prystupa in the pole vault (9-6) and long jump (15-6).

“Right now it’s just about improvement and getting better,” Burroughs Coach John Peebles said.
