Street and freeway closures continue during freeway construction

Daytime lane and ramp closures are scheduled this week as crews work on the $355-million Golden State (5) Freeway Empire interchange construction project, state transportation officials said.

The following closures are stated to take place this week:

-- The Buena Vista Street off-ramp of the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway will be closed Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
-- One lane of the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway between Hollywood Way and Burbank Boulevard will be closed Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
-- Through Friday, Empire Avenue near the Empire Center will have one travel lane in each direction at all times, and parking will be restricted on the north side of Empire Avenue.

Additionally, the northbound Burbank Boulevard/Walnut Avenue on-ramp, southbound Scott Road off-ramp and southbound Victory Place/Lincoln Street on-ramp of the Golden State (5) Freeway are closed permanently.

The latter two will be integrated into the new Empire interchange, slated to open mid-2016.
