Street and freeway closures set for Empire interchange construction

Transportation officials warned of the following freeway and street closures that will take place every night through Friday as crews work on the $355 million Empire interchange project on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Burbank:

-- From 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., up to two lanes will be closed on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway between Hollywood Way and Olive Avenue
-- Between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m., Victory Place will be reduced to one lane north of Empire Avenue, and Empire Avenue at Victory Place will be left-turn only
-- Empire Avenue will have one travel lane in each direction at all times, and parking will be restricted on the north side of Empire Avenue
-- The northbound Burbank Boulevard/Walnut Avenue on-ramp is closed permanently
-- The southbound Scott Road off-ramp and the southbound Victory Place/Lincoln Street on-ramp are closed permanently and will be integrated into the new Empire interchange, slated to open mid-2016
