In commemoration of Veterans Day, the city of Burbank and the Burbank Veterans Committee will host a ceremony at the McCambridge Park War Memorial, on the corner Amherst Drive and San Fernando Boulevard at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Veterans Day began in 1919 as Armistice Day, commemorating the ceasefire that brought an end to fighting in World War I beginning on the 11th hour of the 11th day of November in 1918. Beginning in June 1954, it became a day to honor American veterans of all wars.

The event will honor several recipients of the city’s Military Service Recognition Program, and will include presentations from the United States Navy, as well as performances by the Burbank Community Band, St. Robert Bellarmine School Kindergarteners and the Burbank High School Gentlemen’s Octet.
