Where the parents of teen drunk drivers?

Share

No Excuses for drunk driving! No excuses for drinking under age and driving. No excuses for putting other people’s lives at risk due to your poor decisions and due to the lack of respect you have for yourself and your life (“Alleged teen drunk driver crashes into tree, injures 4,” Oct. 31).

It is unfortunate that these teens were hurt. Fortunately, no one else was hurt.

I would like to know where the parents of these teens are — being out at 4:30 a.m. at the age of 18 or 19 on a Sunday. I am sure these kids should have some sort of job or school to go to the following day.

Besides being out late, they are drinking under age. What happened to good parenting?

I cannot speak on behalf of the parenting style of these families because I do not personally know them; however, I hope they didn’t give them the free pass to make their own decisions just because they are 18 — just because you’re 18 does not mean you are a responsible, ethical decision-maker.

And to think that funding is being cut to educate children about drugs and alcohol and their effects.
