Police arrest woman for allegedly stealing dancewear
A 30-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly stealing dance clothes from a dancewear store and then threatening the store owner with a pair of scissors, police said.
The woman, Ashlee Meleskie, allegedly entered Karabel Dancewear at 3901 W. Magnolia Blvd. just before 5 p.m. and attempted to leave with four items, valued at $100, said Burbank Police Lt. Eddie Ruiz.
When confronted by the store owner, Meleskie reportedly pulled out a pair of scissors and “held them in a threatening manner,” Ruiz said.
Officers located Meleskie at Chandler Boulevard and Avon Street, where she was arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. No injuries were reported.
Meleskie was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
